The Department of Political Science at the University of Crete has organized and operated a Postgraduate Degree Programme in “Political Analysis and Political Theory” since the academic year of 2004-2005. The aim of the Postgraduate Programme is to promote the study of Political Science by offering high-level postgraduate studies in specific branches of Political Science. The Programme leads to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization in the areas of 1) Political Theory and Rights, and 2) Political Analysis and Public and European Policies. For the Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization, the minimum period of registration is two academic semesters. An additional semester is allowed towards the writing up of the Postgraduate Dissertation. For the award of a Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization, ninety (90) credits are required, on condition that sixty (60) credits derive from attendance at and examination in the courses offered, taking into account the division of the course into the main component (compulsory courses), specialization courses, and free choice elective courses from the two (2) specialties of the Postgraduate Programme and thirty (30) credits derived from successfully writing up and defending the Postgraduate Diploma Dissertation.
